Everybody Twits: Twitter, a Review

Mariella Posted by Mariella

Twitter has been an incessant source of topic from the very start. Everybody talks about Twitter and everybody is ON Twitter. I never paid much attention, because I was never one for social networking. No, really. Networking is something I’ve developed in more recent years, more out of necessity than anything else. In the end, I found it enjoyable and ended up loving it. Now, back to Twitter. I never saw the need for it, so I didn’t sign up. One day, however, I received an invite from a friend and decided to try it out.

Twitter

Twitter is actually quite direct-to-the-point. Simply navigate to the web site and sign up. As simple as that.

Twitter

Clicking on the “Find & Invite” link gives you the option to find people to invite or find people already on Twitter.

Twitter

When you’ve already added people, you’ll end up as their “Followers” and their updates show up on your interface as shown above. Conversely, when people add you to their list, your updates show up on their interface. As you can see, I’m “Following” (http://weblogs.about.com/)Deb Ng and (http://www.chrisg.org)Chris Garrett. You can type in your updates in the text box. The maximum character count is 140, so you can write just about anything at the top of your head.

Twitter

When you go to Settings>>Account, you can change your profile.

Twitter

Going to Settings>>Design, will let you tweak your Twitter interface according to your preference. Change the color as well as the background image and customize it to match your personality.

Twitter

You can also choose to receive updates of your friends list on your mobile phone or your GTalk chat applet.

Twitter is a fantastic avenue to network and promote your blog. You can update your friends whenever a new post goes up. And most of all, they’re always aware of your presence so if done correctly, you’re guaranteed traffic to your blog.
