How to Make Interlinking Posts Easier
Posted by Mariella
Interlinking posts is one of blogging’s basic techniques. You have ONE goal when attracting readers to your blog and that is to make them stay as long as they can. Interlinking is the act of linking to any of your prior posts. The tendency for readers is to click on that link and read through your earlier articles and thus making them stay longer than they would have — you’d have accomplished your goal then. However, if you’ve been blogging for quite a while, it’s natural to forget when you’ve blogged this particular topic. The problem is having to find them by digging through your archives because it might take a significant amount of time away from an important task you should be doing. Here are some suggestions:
1. Name Your Files
If you type your blog posts in programs such as Microsoft Word, like I do, name the files as the post title so they can easily be sifted through later. You can also tell the contents of the file in a glance, which makes it all the more convenient.
2. Organize your Post Titles
Keep an Excel file, or anything similar, of all your post titles. It might be a little hard to suddenly become organized when you’re originally not, but believe me, it pays off not to have to look through the entirety of your archive just to find that one particular post you want to link to.
3. Use Google Docs
If you’re afraid of computer crashes, you can also use Google docs or other similar online applications. That way, you know you have a copy of your post titles somewhere. What’s important is that you have a comprehensive record of your posts so interlinking would be a whole lot easier.
