Tools to Make a Blogger’s Life Easier: Netvibes
Posted by Mariella
Blogging can be stressing at times. It’s not an alien option for us to find tools to make things a tad easier. One of the most important issues we have to face, I think, is time management. And the tools that could help us save time are indispensable. And so, without further ado, here is the first of the two of the tools which have helped me in the past and which I’ll probably continue to rely on in the future.
Netvibes is what you can call an online organizer. Their service is still in the beta stages but so far, I’m liking what I see.

As you can see, the Netvibes interface is a feed aggregator of sorts. I’m currently using their default feeds since I use Bloglines for my blog feeds. You can set your location to determine your area’s weather forecast for the next few days. As you can see, I won’t see much sun within the week. There’s a blog search module that works like Google Blog Search. For the web search engine, you can choose among Ask, Live, Google and Snap. You can also add a To-Do List, as you can see at the right portion of the picture. What I like best, however, is that fact that you can duplicate the modules. And hence, notice the three Gmail modules in the picture. I can check all my Gmail accounts simultaneously and I just adore that feature.

Moving to the bottom half, there’s a Facebook module so you can check your facebook account easily, a feed for the Netvibes blog and an image search module. And if you’re not content with what you see, simply click the “Add content” link at the very top of the page to open this window:

You can then search for available feeds.
Netvibes, I believe, can be an effective time-saver tool. When you have everything in one place, you’d find that you’re better organized. When you have many things on your plate, sometimes when you’re in front of the computer, ready to write your next blog post, you get distracted with other things and totally lose your sense of time. Just be careful, however, not to spend too many hours tweaking your Netvibes page, because that in itself is a ditraction — and believe me, it might be addicting.
