Why E-commerce Web Sites are jumping on the Bandwagon

Mariella Posted by Mariella

Blogs, as we all know, are a very useful social tool. You get to meet a lot of people, form a network, establish yourself as an authority in your niche, and just plain give yourself the outlet to write. E-commerce web sites, however, have jumped on the bandwagon and have been trying to capitalize on blogs. I’ve heard many pros and cons of using blogs as a tool to sell, but that’s not what this post is about. I will tackle WHY some e-commerce web sites decide to use blogs as a tool for their business.

1. Content is Always Fresh

You blog regularly, your content is always fresh. You not only keep readers happy, you keep search engine spiders happy too. Fresh content gets readers to come back and spiders are fed with something new regularly. If content is always timely, people tend to come back numerous times in one day. And if your posts are keyword-rich, then that’s an added bonus since you’ll get proper indexing. That’s killing two birds with one stone.

2. It’s Cheaper than Traditional Web Sites

At least, it might be cheaper than a traditional web site. Setting up most blog platforms and updating are quite easy. And if you’re hiring a professional writer, they generally tend to charge less for blog posts than in-depth articles. Deb Ng from Freelance Writing Jobs explains why that’s so. That doesn’t mean you should underpay your writers or if you’re a writer, that doesn’t mean you have to settle for less.

3. You’ll get First-Hand Feedback from Clients

If you enable comment posting, you’ll get valuable consumer feedback which you can use to improve your services/goods. Just remember to moderate them, or else you might get spammed. Try to maintain a civilized discussion on your blog. The time you invest to moderate comments is time well-spent.

These are some of the reasons why e-commerce web sites have also jumped onto the blogging bandwagon. Next time, I’ll discuss why some people disagree to its usage for marketing and why traditional articles are still the preference of many.
