What to Do When You Get Tired of Blogging?

Mariella Posted by Mariella

Troubled Blogger

Yesterday, I dicussed the fact that excess blogging hurts. Face it, it’s possible that we’d come to a point in our lives when blogging isn’t fun anymore. As we grow, we also grow tired of some aspects of our lives — it can’t be helped! Lucky are those who haven’t gotten tired of blogging after a few years. It’s a fun pastime and for some of us, a good source of income. But for those of you who are starting to feel an unfamiliar strain in your blogging lives, you might be coming to a crossroads when the possibility of leaving the blogosphere altogether would sound appealing.

So to say, it’s a sink or swim situation. You’ll either quit or plow onwards — but if it’s only as easy as that. When you’ve loved blogging for a long time, even though just the mere thought of it at present time makes you tired, it won’t be as easy to quit. You might find yourself in a quandary, unable to make a final decision. When you start getting tired of blogging, what are the things you can do to help you decide?

1. Pause and Observe

Maybe it’s because all you do is blog that’s why you’ve started getting tired. When you’re at the point when you’re not sure whether you’d like to continue blogging, take a short break and see if you could live without it. Consider other hobbies and see if they can hook you up as blogging once did. Thing is, if you really can’t live without it, you’ll be back in the game before no time. But if you find that things in your life fall into place better without blogging; then you’ll know it’s time to move on.

2. Consult with Other Bloggers

Over the course of your blogging life, it’s inevitable to have found online blogger friends. Don’t just consult with any of your readers — ask someone who knows how it is to blog and would understand your concerns. To see things in another person’s perspective brings back sense into our lives at times — I think you’d agree.

3. List down the Ups and Downs, Pros and Cons

As writers / bloggers, it’s normal to write everything out. So when you’re confused, write it down. List the ups and downs of your blogging career and the pros and cons of blogging in your life. Weigh everything carefully before you decide and make sure you’ve thought your decision out. There should be no regrets afterwards with whatever your decision will be.

It’s normal for someone to get tired of something most loved before. Bloggers, after all, are only human. At one point, you might just get the need to prioritize your lives, and sometimes, blogging just doesn’t make the cut. However, unlike other things in life, blogging is something you can go back to even after you’ve quit, if you find out that you can’t live without it after all.
