Excess Blogging Hurts!
Posted by Mariella

Blogging is fun. Everybody knows that. But when you’ve taken blogging to new heights, typing posts all day (or sometimes, all night), you’ll find that even something you love so much could hurt. Excess blogging strains your eyes, your fingers, your arms, and your back. And yes, your buttocks too.
Here are some tips to ease your blogging pain:
1. Rest Periodically
After typing for about one to two hours or so, rest your hands and eyes for five to ten minutes. Take a walk, get some snacks, or just plain lie down and close your eyes for a bit. Don’t strain your fingers too much, you don’t want to get carpal tunnel syndrome.
2. Stretch Your Hands and Arms
Flex your hands when they start hurting to induce blood circulation. Keep yourself from cracking your knuckles no matter how much you’re tempted to do so. If they keep hurting after a while, squeeze some lemon on hot water and treat your hands to a hot water bath. BUT do that only AFTER you’ve rested your hands. Which brings us to the next tip…
3. Washing after Work is a Big No-No
Do not, under any circumstance, wet your hands after hours of typing. In fact, don’t wet any part of your body at all right after working. There are many conditions it could cause like Bell’s Palsy. It’s better to be safe than sorry.
4. Buy Ergonomic Chair and Keypad
If you’ve been using a hard uncomfortable chair until now (like I do), it’s time to buy a nice ergonomic chair. I swear, it can help mitigate the pain you might feel on you lower back. Ergonomic keypads are also advised since it could lessen the probability of carpal tunnel syndrome.
5. Regular Exercise Helps
Keeping fit isn’t just only for the gym buffs anymore. Even bloggers should work out once in a while. If you do regular exercise, you’ll find your body more tolerant to stress. Do yoga, spend 15 minutes on a treadmill, take a walk — do anything to exercise your body regularly.
